About Amalee Samarakone
I was born in Sri Lanka during the civil war. The war ended when I was 24 years old. For 24 years of life concentration was on survival. We were careful about every penny spent, we needed to know where our next meal was coming from, and that we were safe. We stayed away from large groups to avoid bombings and sheltered with loved ones. We bought what we needed. We were constantly reminded of the value of life as we watched people die around us. I learned early the difference between a want a need. Quality of life is founded in having the things we need, not what we want.
After the war ended I moved to Canada. I changed my career and became a Personal Banker / Financial Advisor. Looking back I can confidently say this is one of the best decisions I ever made. With my life experience as well as education in finance, I was fortunate to guide many clients from all walks of life. I helped them achieve their financial goals by taking time to understand each person’s unique circumstances.

Making Changes
Some of the most effective improvements come from small, consistent changes in your daily habits and financial mindset.
Finding Balance
Managing your finances means finding the right balance. Inflation and higher interest rates signal that you may need to adjust your budget to find the right balance between daily spending and paying down debt. The right balance will depend on your financial situation and goals.
